Uncle Claus

In June my Uncle Bruce came up north from Texas to visit us. Then we all made our way to upstate New York to visit my Uncle Claus and his wife, Regina. I haven't seen them in roughly 15 years! It is amazing how time flies. It was great catching up with them. I was able to squeeze in a little shoot of the brothers together yet we only skimmed the surface of things. I'm looking forward to more interviews with these two in the near future! Thanks again to Uncle Claus and Aunt Regina for being great hosts!

Happy Holidays!

This project, though it's about looking for someone who is missing, has really brought me even closer to the family that's always been there in my life. During the holidays I'm reminded of how truly blessed I am with an incredible family and friends. Enjoy these moments with your loved ones. Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season.

Back at it!

It's been some time since my last update. I took a little hiatus to participate in the NYC marathon. I know my Uncle Billy in Maui was excited about this. He attended the University of Houston on a track scholarship and participated in many, many marathons (and his times were half of what mine are). My Uncles Billy and Bruce have both told me to "Keep the Pace" (a twist on "Keep the Faith") and I did. Now that I've conquered the marathon, I'm going to 'Keep the Pace' and get back at it with Long Lost. There have been two interviews with my Dad, 'Brother Alex', so far. Considering another one in Rockaway (weather permitting). It looks like Uncle Bruce in Texas should be the next trip/interview before the year's end. Looking forward to it!

Maui Trip

Maui was beautiful and a big success. Uncle Billy was a great host and gave us a tour of the whole island. It was hard to leave. Here are some pictures from the trip and interviews.

On my way to Maui...

I'm feeling pretty charged as I charge various cameras and accessories. Looking forward to seeing my Uncle Billy after a long, long time and finally meeting his wife Rose. Oh, and then there are the miles and miles of beautiful beaches...

Though the beaches are nice to think about, I haven't lost sight of one important reason why I'm going now. This is the kick off of a very exciting search for OJ. Let's hope there are many more Luhrssen reunions to come.

Here are some nice pics courtesy of my cousins, Billy and Hagar Luhrssen. The first is of OJ painting (I'm sure my Uncle Billy who is awesome with remembering dates will tell me when it was taken) and the three youngest of the Luhrssen boys Billy, Bruce and OJ (left to right).

And one more thing... I think that kicking off this project this weekend, and this day in particular, August 16th is very significant. The 40th Anniversary of my parents wedding, a great party that I missed, where my Uncle OJ was my Dad's best man. Also the 40th Anniversary of Woodstock. The greatest party/concert in history and I know for sure that 2 of the 3 guys up there are still bitter that they missed it. What great brothers (and uncles) they are.
